An evening of music from the
Hollywood films that have a large impact on American culture and the perception
of Soldiers' lives and sacrifices. Program to include film music from composers
John Williams, Mark Isham, Jeff Beal, Laura Karpman, Joseph DeBeasi, Joshua
Mosier, and Tim Simonec. This FREE concert, featuring the 60-member Concert
Band and 29-member Soldiers’ Chorus, uses musical and visual elements to honor
and highlight the contributions of our Soldiers. Tickets are required for this
A pre-concert discussion is scheduled prior to the US Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus performance, starting at 7 p.m. in the Marsee Auditorium: Scoring the Soldier's Story: How Film Music influences the stories of our Army's history, from past to present.
Prior to the evening's concert, our guest composers will discuss their respective experiences in writing music for various film/TV/media projects that depict the inspiration and perseverance of our Soldiers' service and sacrifice. Guests will include composers such as Mark Isham (Once Upon A Time TV Series, Crash), Jeff Beal (House of Cards, The Long Road Home), Laura Karpman (Underground, Paris Can Wait), Joseph DeBeasi (American Sniper), Josh Moshier (Baskets TV series, Happy Anniversary), and Tim Simonec (Famed Hollywood Composer, Orchestrator, Conductor, Arranger). The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Berkeley Price, Dean of Fine Arts at El Camino College. The discussion is open to all ticket-holders and will begin promptly at 7 p.m.
The Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus perform regularly in some of the most famous concert halls in the world, and just as often in the humblest auditoriums in the smallest of communities. The joining of these two ensembles allows them to offer unparalleled versatility of programming, ranging from orchestral masterworks and operatic arias to Sousa marches, jazz classics, and Broadway musicals. The band and chorus also perform independently, and have recently shared the stage with such ensembles as the Boston Pops, the Cincinnati Pops, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to their national tours, formal concerts, chamber recitals, and educational outreach, members of the Concert Band & Soldiers’ Chorus frequently represent the Army at formal and ceremonial functions, including the Presidential Inaugural Parade, presidential funerals, the Army All-American Bowl, and diplomatic efforts overseas.

El Camino College Students that are required by class curriculum to attend a performance at Center for the Arts venues are required to complete a Student Attendance Check-Out Form (yellow form) which can be picked up in the lobby upon entering the event venue. Students must have a valid ticket to enter the venue. Completed forms can be given to an usher at the end of the event as you exit the venue.
